Food for the gods: Chapter 1Food for the gods
Chapter 1
The two ghosts traveled quickly across the jungle, occasionally seeing a zerg or protoss scout. Being ghosts, they had the equipment needed to literary walk right past the guards. After several hours of walking, Jesse ordered a halt.
"Why the hell do you always get to decide when to stop? We're the same friggin' rank Jess!" Jim said.
"Yeah, I know... But I'm older then you, and if you want to lead, your gonna have to kick the shit outta me first!" Jess replied, taking herself down to a defensive position while she spoke.
"Heh... Age... Ah well, as long as you don't ask me to remove my equipment and run into a zerg base naked, I don't really have such a big problem with it." He said, trying to sound comical.
"Well I just might do that, but right now I think you should cloak and shut up..." she said, and in the same time cloaked herself.
Something could be heard on the path. None of the ghosts had any idea what it could be, but they weren't gonna endanger themselves for no good. After several seconds, the bushes started moving next to the trail, and a patrol of five marines appeared. Both
Jess and Jim let their breath out, and the sound made the marines alert.
"Who's there?" one said, his gun by his hip, and his finger on the trigger.
"Jimmy, ghost of Alpha. And Jess, also ghost, same base. And you are a private?" Jim said, uncloaking himself and stepping out into the trail.
"We're Beta long range patrol. Makin' a outer perimeter check, Sir!" the marine, who seemed to be the leader, said, at the same time straitening up his back.
"We need you to go right back to your base, despite your orders, and tell everyone that alpha is gone." Jimmy said.
"Alpha is what?" the marine said.
"It's gone, down, no more, protoss territory. We're headin' for Delta." Jimmy said.
"That will be all marine." Jess said, waved for Jim, cloaked and started walking away.
The marines left the meeting place in the direction they came from. They hurried for all
they could to get to their base.
"Jim, why did you give those marines so strict orders?" Jess said, walking alongside Jim, both now uncloaked.
"What should I have done Jess, they're stupid marines. Apes given a gun! If I wouldn't have told 'em to hurry for all their worth, they would probably have taken a fuckin' bath on the way to their base!" Jim said.
"Yeah, some of them aren't too intellectual, but in overall, they’re good people. I knew some of the marines back on alpha - they we're my friends. Now they're all either dead or slaves of the zerg!" she said, tears filling up in her eyes.
"Hey, Jess! I can see that this is a touchy subject, so lets change it before you start to cry. How much longer for Delta?" he said, trying to be as comforting as possible without getting personal.
"About 4 more miles Jim. Just 4 more miles, then we can see start kicking some alien ass!" she said, now almost happy.
"Great! Lets pick up the pace then!" he said, starting a slow run instead of walking. She followed shortly behind.
