Infestation of Toria : Part 1 (Based on the Infestation RPG)
On the outskirts of the Koprulu Sector was an uninhabited desert planet known as Toria. The Confederacy, who was continually capturing enemies, needed a place to store the prisoners. So they decided to build prisons on the desert planet. Nobody knew about this planet for years, but then the Overmind found the Confederate prison world. He didn’t want all of these Terrans dead. He wanted them to be loyal servants to the Swarm. He sent a horde of Zerg to do just that, to infest the planet Toria.

In the only cell in Prison 4A, Michael Zitel sat with four others, held inside by a force field. Outside was a guardhouse, and several armed guards stood outside the cell. Their captain, a man named Williams, stood with a loaded C-10 Canister Rifle and was talking to one of his guards. There were soldiers patrolling above the mountains that the prison area was behind. There was a larger force field in between the two mountains for vehicles to get through.
“The guards seem to be on alert today,” Zack, a former member of the Kel-Morian Combine.
“Indeed,” Michael said. “I wonder why?”
“Who cares? As long as they leave us alone,” states James, a smuggler that had been caught carrying a large quantity of weapons for the Sons of Korhal.
They seem to be getting ready for something, Zack thought. It doesn’t seem good either.
In a corner sat a man named Matt. He was usually the most serious of the five, and he was also the quietest. They always wondered how he was captured, but the last prisoner that asked him ended up with a broken neck. No one will forget that day.
Next was Kyle, a former member of the Umojan Protectorate. He didn’t speak of how he was captured.
A guard, a man named Bill, walked up to the cell. “Sorry guys, but you’re stayin’ in today. Been some problems over at 4B,”
.
“What kind of problems?” Zack asked.
“I suppose you can know. There’s been some Zergs killin’ over there,” Bill answered. “Caught ‘em off guard.”
“Why would the Zerg be on this planet?” Kyle asked.
“Bill, get the hell over here!” Captain Williams shouted at the guards.
“Comin’ sir.”
The prisoners turned back to each other with a look of alarm on their faces.
“Well, at least we have some kind of protection in this cell if they decide to come,” Michael.
“Yeah, that’s something,” James agreed and stood up. “Let’s just hope they decide to stay over at 4B.”

Captain Williams wasn’t worried like the others. He was a high ranking officer in the Confederacy’s prison division, and he was known for keeping his head in crazy situations. Right now the Zerg were infesting Toria, and he had to do something about it, as long as his men weren’t cowards.
“It’s the Zerg,” a man on the mountain shouted. “They’re comin’ this way!”
“What are they?” Williams shouted back.
“Queens!”
“When they get in range, shoot ‘em!” Williams shouted.
The men on the mountain aimed their Gauss Rifles and fired. There were at least thirty queens coming their way. The men kept firing, and the Queens would crash to the ground, but there would be others that wouldn’t stop. The men kept firing, but the Zerg kept getting closer and closer. Soon the Zerg Queens flew over the prison, followed by Mutalisks. The men on the mountain were slaughtered by the Mutalisk attacks. Captain Williams aimed his rifle up and shot at the Mutalisks with the rest of his men on the ground.
“Sir, Zerglings are trying to get through the entrance!” a guard shouted.
The last Mutalisk crashed to the ground, almost smashing some of the guards.
“Follow me,” Williams shouted. “Some of you stay back to guard the prison!”
Two dozen guards followed their captain. They opened the force field entrance and closed it again. The prisoners could hear them firing. Four Zerglings came up from the ground and attacked the men that had been left behind to guard the prison.

“It’s crazy out there,” James said, “and they can just damn dig under the force fields. We ain’t safe”
“It’s Bill!” Michael shouted seeing a man limping toward them.
“…Too…many…” he murmured. His entire right side was covered in blood.
“Bill, can you let us out?” Zack asked the hurt man.
“Don’t be a fool,” James shouted. “We’ll be killed!”
“We’ll die in here anyway,”
Bill, who wasn’t thinking clearly, pushed several buttons on a number pad by the cell. The force field went away. All five prisoners ran out. Bill didn’t move. The Zerglings had now annihilated the others and was heading for them. Bill turned around but was too late as a Zergling jumped on him. He put up a small struggle as it tore him apart. His rifle had flown by Matt, who picked it up and shot the Zergling without a second thought. Another lunged at him and he shot that one out of the sky.
Everyone ran into the guardhouse. There were more weapons there. Zack took a Canister Rifle while the others took Gauss Rifles. Matt pushed a button and the force field at the entrance went away. They noticed that the fighting had stopped.
For the first time since being captured, they were free. Zerg cocoons emerged from the ground. Some soldiers lay dead, but most were gone.
“They’re definitely infesting this planet,” Kyle observed.
There were mountains on both sides of the group. There were footprints from both Zerg and Terran on the ground. Matt, who had fought in several battles, pointed out the Zergling tracks. The group walked forward to get away from the eggs.
“We have to move faster,” Matt told them, though he didn’t seem worried.
They ran forward and turned a corner. A multitude of Broodlings blocking the path. The group quickly opened fire, but there was just too many.
“We don’t have enough time to take ‘em all!” James shouted.
Despite all the noise and excitement, Matt noticed a Spider Mine sticking out of the ground. It was no longer operational, but he assumed the explosives could still be triggered.
“Move back you fools!” he shouted.
They did as they were told and continued to fire. Matt aimed his rifle at the disabled mine and fired. It exploded on impact, triggering a network of explosions. When the dust and smoke cleared, everyone but Matt sighed in relief.
“Good job man,” James said after taking a deep breath.
Matt held up his hand to silence him. “Listen,” he whispered.
At first they heard nothing, but then it came to them. In the distance was gunfire. It was a C-10 Canister Rifle.
“I’m sure Captain Williams will be pleased when we help him out,” Matt said. “His men were very untrained.”
“Tell me,” Zack said. “Who did you serve under before coming here?”
“There is no time for questions you damned fool,” Mat said with anger. “We leave now.”
The four men nodded and they all set out wondering if they would make it off this Zerg infested planet.
