Location: On an island just off the main continent of Auir
In a little part of nowhere, forgotten over time, a small protoss child was born. The village elder said that this child will be great and that the gods will look down upon him and bless him with great powers. Unknown to the child or his mother, he was destined to be a Hero. He was named Jakel, a Xel’Naga word for greatness. The writings of the ancients say that a boy will lead the protoss to victory over an enemy more powerful than any protoss.

100 Years Later
A hundred years has passed since the birth of Jakel, he is coming of age. Now is when his psionic energies are starting to surface.
“Mom, why do we have to make such a big deal about all this, it just like all my other birthday’s. What is so different about this one?”
“Your psionic energies are starting to surface, which means it is time for you to be tested.”
“For what?”
“To see if you are capable of being a Templar.”
“But I wanted to be a ship designer.”
“This is good for you, trust me, now go get ready.”
Jakel walks off to his room. He gets dressed and leaves for the Ancient temple in the middle of his village. Everyone is watching him. It makes him nervous. He considers that he turning back, but his mother was always there. “This is good for you, trust me.”
He arrived at the Temple in a short amount of time, the guards at the door moved out of his way. He heard them say as he walked by “Better run Jakel, you’re late.”
“Late, oh not today, Thanks Cagrath.”
“Good luck.”
He made it up the stairs and into the channeling room as fast as he could. High Templar Danrath was not happy. He shrugged it off soon enough and started to get the materials for the testing. He had me lie down on a couch.
He said “ Now lie still, I am attempting to connect you to the psionic energies locked deep within your mind.”

It felt like I was lying there for hours, then he did something and I blacked out. I awoke an hour later to find a large black, charred area about a dozen feet in diameter. I called out to Danrath, no answer. Thoughts were running through my head at an incredible speed. Is Danrath dead? Then I heard a moan from the corner of the room, it was Danrath, he looked badly hurt. I ran him to the closest med bay. The doc said that he had a few minor burns and a blow to the head, nothing really serious. He said to come back in an hour, he should be better by then. That hour seemed like years, but they finally let me in, Danrath said that it was me that created that psionic blast and power that strong has not been witnessed in at least a millennia. Within a weak I was designated as a Templar.
About a year later I was approached by a Protoss in a dark shrouded cape. He said he need my help. “The Xel’Naga are not what we thought they were, they are about to leave this planet, never to return.”
“Why would they do that?”
“Because we are slowly drifting away from our old ways, you may not know it but a war is brewing that will change the face of Auir forever, and you maybe the only one who can balance out the war for one side, and send all those who don’t follow in your path maybe destroyed, the choice is yours.”
“What is this war about?”
“Some of us want to keep to the old ways, while others want to keep their freewill. Which side are you on.”
“I believe that we do deserve \to have freewill. But the old ways are all I know. I am ready for something new, the old ways maybe keeping us back from our true goal in life.”
“Is that your choice, you want freewill.”
“yes”
“Then we never met.” He vanished.

Not long after that the Xel’Naga left us.
“Get up Jakel, there is no time to waste.”
“Where are you taking me?”
“Away, the war has many different meanings for its starting, the Xel’Naga leaving just started it sooner than expected. Many are fighting because they deceived us, but the real war is being fought for global supremacy and many tribes are fighting just to destroy the ones like you and me, things they don’t understand.”
“Is this some kind of conspiracy?”
“Yes it is, you see there are many Protoss, some want us dead others want us to be their perfect fighting machines. Now there is not much time let’s go.”
He ran out his front door and into the ship parked on his front lawn. They left to a nearby moon. The cloaked Protoss said his name was Kelhara. Kelhara had shown me lots of things, like I was not the only one he brought here, there was about another dozen Protoss here. He told us that we were chosen by the gods as a possible end to this war, but only one of us , would pass the test.

The alarm went off.
“We were followed, get to the nearest escape pods, they are set to land in the same part of Auir, far away from any battles. The one who survives is the chosen one.”
I ran as fast as I could rushing to get to an escape pod. I jumped in and screamed for Kelhara, but it was to late, he was hit with a flying shrapnel. I jumped in the pod and hoped I made it. About half way to Auir, everything twirled, then went black.
When I came to I was all alone, no other pods in sight. I walked to the nearest city. When I got there the Elders told me that I had to fight for them or I would be killed. I had no choice. The battle was chaos, and my little combat experience served me a little good. It wasn’t long before something struck me from behind, sends me back to blessed oblivion.
When I awoke I was alone. In a pile of rubble was a barely alive Elder.
“Avenge my death, we fought for freedom, that was all. We were just simple people trying to live our lives in peace. But this is war. You are the one, the one that will fight for our free will.”
I left that town with sadness in my heart. That man fought for his freedom, and died for it.
