The Inferno (Chapter 1)

Hell, as we call it, is supposed to be a place of eternal damnation, but to others like Jhardel Lecouser, Former bodyguard to King Lorfeus, it was home. To children of many places around the world it is a place of eternally burning fires and cave like surroundings from which there is no escape, but to Jhardel Lecouser, It was paradise. To many people around the world, it is a place where no one really wants to be, but to Jhardel Lecouser, he loved it
.
Even as a boy Diablo, the Lord of Terro , had plans for him that no one would ever expect. Jhardel was captured and raised by Sabeth Ki, a bandit who was said to be from the mythical land known as "The East" but no one would ever have even expected his true nature
.
"Jhardel," A small fallen one said in a high squeaky voice "Are you ready to return to the Mortal Realm?"

"Hmmmm." Jhardel had finally returned to reality (Well, a reality) "Has it been five hundred years already?"

"It has," The Fallen one said "of course it won't be be any Heaven, hehehe, not that I would know."

Jhardel's chamber looked different depending on what you feared the most, to the fallen one, it was a slave prison where the Fallen One had spent most of his 900 years, but to Jhardel it changed everyday because day after day Jhardel fought his fears and this day it was the room where he was born. His naked soul would soon return to his mortal body but under one condition which he agreed upon 500 years ago, he would forever after obey Diablo's will and forever after agree to kill all those who defied his dark lords.

"Well?" The fallen one said again in a high squeaky voice "Are you coming or not!?"

"Do not insult me Vladikoff!" Jhardel said again being defensive "I'm not afraid to come back for you!"

"Foolish immortal!" Vladikof squeaked "I'm only going to be here another 200 years!"

"And by that time I will be more powerful then you could possibly imagine!" Jhardel screamed
Jhardel's head was filled with an evil voice, a voice that only he could hear but all could sense, you could tell it was the voice of the Lord of Terror himself, Diablo.

"Only one can be as powerful as you speak and that is me, and only me! Diablo was ready to put another 400 years of Hell onto Jhardel "If you speak of such things again you will be damned for all ages!

"Yes my master!" Jhardel screamed "Forgive me I beg!"

Diablo's voice was not heard again but the Fallen One had already ran out the door into main dungeons of Hell. Jhardel quickly ran out and grabbed the fallen one.

"Take me to the Gate!" Jhardel said "Now."

"Yes!" The fallen one said this time in a less squeaky voice "Yes, yes! Gate we go!"

"Use proper language!" Jhardel screamed as he slapped the fallen one against the face
"Alright! I will!" Vladikof did not let Jhardel say another word and pulled him up the nine levels of the cone shaped tower known as Hell

After a moment they arrived in the top level of Hell, but unlike the other levels no one feared this place. Before them on the floor was a red pentagram and Vladikof shoved Jhardel onto it. Jhardel then saw a glimpse of Vladikof sticking out his tongue in envy but then found himself lying on the ground where he had been killed 500 years before only now it was a church floor and he was completly covered in black armor and his whole body for the first time in 500 could feal and touch. this moment of slight joy was spoiled when Father Sargarus stepped out and cast a firebolt spell at Jhardel.

"Demon spawn!" Sargarus screamed "Begone now!"

The firebolt hit Jhardel and was knocked back to the ground as he quickly ran out the door into a small city with people of all sorts running about. As Jhardel ran through the crowd he was beat and tripped (Which did not actually hurt) by townspeople knowing what he was and as Jhardel ran through the forest he was met by a gate to a grim looking castle.

"What is this place?" Jhardel asked himself

"That is Castle Von Fear." replied a fox

"Have I been damned for so long that animals hve begun to speak?" Jhardel asked "Or am I insane?"

"Neither." the fox replied " I am your spirit guide "I keep you out of trouble. I have been waiting a lon-"

"You keep me out of trouble?" Jhardel asked "You have a pretty wierd way of keeping me out of trouble! I've been in Hell the last 500 years! Where were you when I was assassinating King Lorfeus for my father Sabath!?"

"You do not understand!" The fox started "Diablo has power beyond that of Nature or the heavens, he has shaped events in your life for his own twisted purposes! But I can help, you can die again and instead go to the High-"

Jhardel's head was again filled with Diablo's evil voice

"Kill him!" Diablo screamed "Or return here with me!"

Jhardel did not even wait to respond, something took control and he became savage and slashed at the fox with his dark sword. The fox however faded away like a mirage just before his blade slashed the fox.

Jhardel, confused and tired broke open the gates to Castle Von Fear and walked up the dirt path to the wicked castle.
