As dumb as...

The commander picked up the com. "Siege two, concentrate on dragoons and watch for Reavers. Siege one, soften up those zealots before they get here."

There were two simultaneous, "Confirmed" replies from the comm.

The commander turned to his troops in the bunker, "Relax guys, this one isn't going to be too bad."

He spoke too soon.

The entire bunker shook. "Everyone okay? Good, keep concentrating on the zealots. GET A SCV OVER HERE!" the commanding marine, yelled from the bunker. He grabbed the com, speaking rapidly and clearly, "This is choke one, we need air support, a SCV- preferably two- and detection ASAP. Repeat air support, SCV’s, and detection. We have a major frontal attack. Choke one out."

"Confirmed choke one. They're on their way."

Hopefully the rookies with him didn't realize what that shaking was. The commander knew that a Reaver was now right on top of them. But if they worked on the Reaver, the zealots and dragoons would kill them and the tanks before the reinforcements arrived. The Reaver had too slow a reloading rate to worry about, for now.

The SCV’s arrived first, thank goodness. Four to be exact. Two continuously fixed the bunker, while the other two each took care of a siege tank. After 8 zealots and 3 dragoons had disappeared in a puff of smoke, it seemed that the air support was unnecessary. Better safe than sorry. "Alright, let's finish off that Reaver and we're done."

Again, he spoke too soon.

Before the SCVs had a chance to finish off their repairing jobs, a second wave came on. The thuds on the bunker proved that there was more than one Reaver this time, this really could be trouble.

The bunker took a beating, but the SCVs did a good job keeping it up. One from a siege tank came over to help out, the attack was concentrated on the bunker. The com beeped, "Choke one, are the reinforcements still necessary?"

"YES! And more, as much as you can spare." He slammed down the com.

The unmistakable sounds of the dark templar blades screamed in the marine's ears. The detection was still on its way. This could get bad if that Comsat Station didn't sweep the area soon.

Eight zealots rushed the bunker, breaking through the siege tanks defense. Another set of eight were visible on the horizon. One marine yelled, "Hey guys, was that an interceptor?" This was trouble.

Just as it looked like all was lost, two DropShips flew in. Four Goliaths and two siege tanks. The siege tanks immediately went into siege mode. The Goliaths took out the interceptors, leaving the carrier that came into view ineffective. The detection came in form of a Science Vessel. Just as it came into range, it EMP shocked the area. The siege tanks cleaned up the remaining ground forces, dark templar and all. The Goliaths and marines took care of the carrier. The Science Vessel moved forward just in time to see an Arbiter’s warp field take away the remaining forces.

The confederate army had its hands full with the Protoss army today, but their bunker and two siege tanks held the choke point for one more day. It looked like trouble for a few minutes there. The three marines from the bunker, not including the commander, had left the barracks in the middle of the night. They decided to go off into the hills and start a fire so they could talk about the day's accomplishments. They crowed around a rather large bonfire, each describing their version of the story. Their stories were all pretty much the same, since they were all together when it happened. But it made them feel better to talk about their experiences. They finished up their serious conversation.

After about 5 minutes of silence, on marine said, "Man, those 'toss must be pretty stupid to think that they could get into OUR base."

Each of the other guys laughed. "Yeah, I mean, how dumb do you have to be to make a frontal assault on a base that has a bunker and siege tanks." stated another.

"Yeah, that's about as dumb as mind controlling an interceptor." They all laughed.

They didn't even see the Reaver that crawled up behind them. It killed them all in one shot.

One of the two zealots that had accompanied the Reaver said to the other one, "Not quite as dumb as leaving the base and starting a fire in the middle of nowhere when there are massive Protoss troops in the area."

They both laughed and made their way back to the shuttle. Two arbiters flew overhead and went toward the Terran base. An observer found a weak spot in the air defense of the perimeter during the frontal attack. The Protoss main command approved a full assault. The arbiters warped in 3 carriers, 4 shuttles full of Reavers, 7 dragoons, 12 zealots and a probe. Their orders: kill everyone, destroy all buildings, start a Protoss base. They were given 2 hours, but it wouldn't even take half of that.
