Zerg Mission 8

To Kill the Beast:

Destroy the Overmind with the Dark Templar
Must be able to Make Dark Templar
Minimap as Drawn by Cerebrate Deathwing
Map Size: 196x128

The Dark Templars patrolled around the creep restless, giving our hive cluster a venomous look every now and then. If looks could kill, I would expect to see all the swarm crumple beneath their gazes. Yet they did not attack, they dared not attack, after all we had their Matriarch in our clutches. The had to obey my every bidding...

Even with the Dark Templars help, I knew the battle will be long, quickly I ordered the production of drones and soon a steady stream was coming back and forth. The Creep Colonies were also morphed into Sunken Colonies. Below and what I decided to construct:

Hatchery at B
Main Dark Templar Population of 6
Hydralisks at Hatcheries
Evolve Hydralisk Speed
Evolve Hydralisk Range
Evolve Overlord Speed
Evolve Zerg Missile Weapons Level 1

Hydralisks lauch a surprise attack on the renegade Zerg The enemy attacked continuously with both Terran and Zerg forces, but these we managed to hold off. Finally we I have a force of 18 Hydralisks and 6 Dark Templars, I charged them eastwards, straight into the Orange hive cluster located at C. The defence that stood in our way fell easily and soon the enemy hive cluster was levelled. Immediately I brought two drones, one created a Hatchery while the Other morphed into a Sunken Colonies. These were built just in time to face the onslaught of several counter attacks, ranging from Ultralisks to Goliath. However the Hydralisks managed to hold them off. The Expansion with taken with the loss of only 9 Hydralisks and 5 Dark Templars, not bad considering I could care little for the Dark Templars welfare. As the old Zerg saying went, "it's never bad to have one less Protoss breathing the same air as us."

With resources coming in from all three outposts, I decided to claim aerial superiority. Quickly the following advancements were made:

Evolve Zerg Flyer Weapons Level 1
Queens Nest
Mutalisks/Hydralisks at Hatcheries, Ratio 1:1
Upgrade to Hive
Upgrade to Greater Spire
Evolve Zerg Flyer Armour Level 1
Mutalisk/Devourer/Guardian Ratio 3:2:2

Once I had an impressive swarm of 4 Guardians, 6 Mutalisks and 4 Devourers. Meanwhile 16 Hydralisks and 6 Dark Templars were also ready for an assault. Without delay, I order my force to mass up just South of the Outpost at. Overlords were also brought for Cloak Detection. Slowly I let my Guardians advance, taking out the frontal defences of the enemy, With glee I watched Marines run out of their Bunkers only to be splattered by deadly acid spores.

As the enemy detection and land defence was weakened, I ordered the charge of the Hydralisks and Dark Templars, these coupled by the Guardians soon made short work of the Base. The Devourers soon defeated enemy Valkyries and Battlecruisers reinforcements allowing another Hatchery to be morphed at D. The enemy continued it's assaults, but the Devourers patrolled the coast managed to intercept most of these before they could land

As more resources flowed in, more advanced were made, you can see them below:

Second Spire
Evolve Overlord Transportation
Evolve Zerg Flyer Armor Level 2
Evolve Zerg Flyer Weapons Level 2
Evolve Zerg Carapace Level 1
Mutalisk/Devourer/Guardian Ratio 1:1:1

Meanwhile all the hatcheries continued the morphing of aerial breeds, soon an army of 12 Mutalisks, 12 Devourers and 12 Guardians was created. These slowly advanced Eastwards, the Guardians knocking down teh first wall of Spore colonies that stood in our way. Within seconds, the enemy defences were mobilised and armies of enemy Mutalisks and Valkyries swarmed at us, followed by a few Devourers. However my own powerful force of 12 Devourers rendered these units useless as well as weak. Allowing the Mutalisks to finish them with ease. Even so quite a few of my number perished, by these were soon replaced by fresh troops were constantly morphed at the four Hatcheries.

The Guardians meanwhile had no trouble with enemy land, which scattered at their site. Soon the whole base was bleeding and burning. Mutalisks that came to reinforce my attack force were constantly morphed into both Guardians and Devourers depending if the enemy was attacking more on land or air. In around 7 minute's time, the base was levelled, but my scattered air force was forced to retreat back to C and regroup. Meanwhile 12 Hydralisks and the 6 Dark Templars boarded Overlords and dropped onto the island at D, thereby securing it. A Drones was also brought and a Hatchery constructed.

Devourers and Mutalisks took out the final Terran defences

Once my attack force was replenished back to 12 of each breed. It advanced further Eastwards to engage the final defences of the Overmind. As the first row of anti-air was scattered by the Guardians, I dropped a force of 12 Hydralisks and 6 Dark Templars onto the ground. Meanwhile the Devourers made short work of any aerial defences the enemy may have. The Hydralisks were also busy at work, knocking down approaching Goliath, which may threaten the Guardians. Using the Guardians to take out the Siege Tanks and Missile Turrets, I advanced. Battlecruisers and Valkyries blocked our way, but the Devourers spores once again turned the tides of battle. Finally, when nothing lay before us but wreckage, I knew the Overmind would die this day.
