I'm sure you think that most paladins are craps that couldn't defeat a level 1 sorceress even if their life depended on it. Well, you're right, but that doesn't mean that they can't kick some demon tail now and again. Charge is an important if not vital skill to have throughout your life. Just remember that you will use it about as much as Salvation, but although it's not as well worn as Zeal or Vengeance, it's still just as vital to your health.
The basic concept of Charge is that you ideally have it in the left action button along with some high damage enhancing aura (preferably a level 20 concentration). You run with your shadow trailing behind you and bash the enemies on contact, much like the Barbarian skill only much better. Just keep in mind that you will not charge when you're right in the monster's face, and you must run away before you can charge again. "What good is this?" you ask me. Let me give you two prime and probably well-hated examples: Hephasto the Armorer and Lightning Enchanted Monsters.
You charge the enemy and hit them very hard. They are knocked back because of the Bash and if you have any sense of coordination you will be given more than enough time to get out of the blast zone of Hephasto's hammer / charged bolts. Rinse and repeat. It is preferable that you pump up your energy to 35 or so and leave it there for the rest of your life. If you do a lot of damage and have a mana stealing ring / amulet / weapon then you can pretty much do it for free. I remember playing games where practically everyone dies by Hephasto and using Charge I killed him without getting hit once.
Think of using this with Fetish Blowgunners and Fetish Shaman. The possibilities are endless. If you are going to be a PvP Paladin this skill is VITAL to your well being, as it can keep those people doing 700+ damage away from you (this is neglecting Frozen Orb, Bone Spirit, Leap Attack, and those other numerous broken skills).
In the end, this skill does more damage and gives you a bigger attack bonus than Sacrifice, and if all I've said above does not convince you of the importance of charge, I don't know what will.
A final word of caution: Do not use Charge when you are chilled, you move slower than you would walking.
