Magic Find Sorceress:

Version: 1.09
Skil Level: Normal
Game Type: Any
Author: Talps
Objective: To Create a Sorceress who can find Magics Items aplenty

I, like many people, are trying to create a (M)agic (F)ind (S)orceress. Unlike other Sorceresses, the MFS has delicate skill and stat placement to maximize her power. Most MFS, whom go for high MF items and rarely get much power to go with it, cannot last in Hell easily on those Baal Runs. I would just like to share my skill placement with the rest of you so you can see how to maximize power, yet keep a high MF.

Skills
Skill placement is commonly overlooked. True, Firewall is powerful, and should be maxed. Most Sorceresses in general, will put a point into Frozen Orb or Blizzard, and then maybe Thunderstorm. However, you'll want a few points into Cold Mastery to help out a bit, and Thunderstorm is relatively weak without it's Lightning Mastery. Fire Mastery and Warmth are also maxed. Yikes, that is a little too many skills. Want me to show you how to cut it down without just going with FireWall and FrozenOrb, which happen to be two skills with casting delays?

What is a powerful skill with no casting delay... Chain Lightning, of course! Max that out, and with maxed Lightning Mastery, you should do sufficient damage. To take full power of Lightning Mastery, max out Thunderstorm as well. It is a common spell. So far that is 60 skill points, maxing out another skill should make 80 total, and with prequisites... well, most people don't work so hard that they reach far above 80. Next, max out Firewall. The damage from it is high, and is no doubt, very useful. Also, a point or two into Fire Mastery helps enhance the damage... ALOT. So to make it easy, here is what you should do...

Put 1 point into Warmth, Inferno, Blaze, Charged Bolt, Nova, Telekinesis, Static Field, and Lightning. Once at L18, put points into Chain Lightning and Firewall and keep doing that. With all the saved up skills, you should be able to put a point into each per level up. At level 24, get Thundestorm and Energyshield. Keep putting points into Thunderstorm, Chain Lightning, and Firewall until you run out. Afterwards, just use your own descretion on which skills deserve more points. Keep in mind that Firewall skill points might not be needed yet, since it does so much damage at even L5. Once at L30, put a few points into Fire Mastery and Lightning Mastery(immediately, these skills are important!). Keep putting points into skills are your own descretion. This is my hotkey layout... the skills on it are all important, but you can rearrange them however you want:

F1 - Chain Lightning
F2 - Firewall
F3 - Thunderstorm
F4 - Energy Shield
F5 - Town Portal
F6 - Telekinesis
F7 - Teleport

You may or may not get Frost Nova, Ice Blast, or Frozen Armor. Although you may think Ice Blast is required for Firewall, as long as you have a mercenary with tons of life, you can keep monsters in place.

Stats:
Simply put, you don't have much strength. Only 70 is needed to wear Greaves, and you can put more or less depending on whatever 4-Socket armor you happen to find. Although if you are lucky enough to get Tal Rasha's armor(high MF), just get however much strength is needed for that. You'll want to boost this a lot, but once it is high enough, concentrate on the other two important stats. Dexterity is useless. Laugh at yourself if you put any here. Vitality is the 2nd best stat. I suggest putting 2 here every level. You need vitality to stay alive, and with a possible low defense and weak items, you will need tons of this. Energy is the most important stat. Did you notice how I ignored Warmth earlier on? With enough of this, you won't need warmth. Put 3 in here every level. If you beg for mana, use mana potions or wait a while for mana to regenerate.

Equipment
When you get a Tarnhelm with at least 40 MF, use your socket quest and put in a perfect topaz or Ist rune(personally, I would save the Ist rune if you happen to find a weapon). When you find 4-socketed armor, put 4 perfect topazes in that. Use a Gull dagger, it has high MF. If you can get many Ist runes, find a 6-socket weapon(or however high it gets...) and put Ist runes in them. Ist runes have a 30% MF bonus in weapons, making them more valuable here than in armor. Plus, Ist runes are the only thing with MF that you can put in a weapon, besides a jewel. Ist runes are also valuable for putting in shields, since topazes just add lightning resistance. Ah hell, if you want more equipment information, goto here.

Conclusion
This is a good plan... not just for MFS, but for all Sorceresses. Hopefully, this will help you get the maximum power out of your sorceress. You may come up with variants of my plan if you wish. It is all at your desecration. Now if you don't mind, I must end this guide in fear of my computer randomly locking up, which it likes to do when I have long, unsaved documents.
