About the Instance:
Hellfire Ramparts is the first instance available to players of the Burning
Crusade. It is forgiving, and does not require excellent gear to complete.
Although it is recommended for players with dungeon sets of lower to first
complete a few quests in Hellfire peninsula to obtain some green 60 items in the
Burning Crusade (which are Molten Core quality items in Vanilla), anyone with
the blue PvP set or better will be able to jump in without any problem.
Even groups in Level 60 Vanilla greens should be able to down the first bosses,
and gain plenty of loot meanwhile.
Party Makeup:
Hellfire Ramparts is reasonably
forgiving on party make-up and member capability, and any group with a skilled
tank and a reasonably healer stands a good chance of completing the instance. A
Priest as main healer is preferred, since Shadow Ward will help metigate the damage aura from Omar the Scarred.
Having a Mage or a Druid will also allow this aura to be dispelled. A Paladin or Shaman's fire resist buffs will also come in handy.
Useful Equipment:
The final boss involves a fire breathing dragon. Although it is possible to do
this boss with no fire resist, fire resist gear on the tank is extremely
helpful.
Finding Your Way
to the Instance:
Hellfire Ramparts is part of the Hellfire Citadel complex, situated in the
centre of Hellfire Peninsula. The entrance to the instance is direct east of the
meeting stone.
Hellfire Rampart Layout:
The Ramparts is a small, quick instance, much like a wing of the Scarlet
Monastery. The dungeons features 3 boss encounters, the last one of which
involves both the both and his mount (and thus drops two sets of loot). There is
little opportunity to get lost, just follow the map above. Mob density is rather
high, and due to the frequency of fear effects, and patrols, it is essential
that mobs be pulled.
Quest Quick Guide:

quest
Weaken the Ramparts:
The only quest for this
instance. To get it, you'll nee to complete a few prerequisite quests from
the same quest giver. So just keep doing quests for them till this quest is
offered, the reward is well worth it. To complete the quest, just kill every
boss, it's that easy!
To Kill the Warkeeper:
A Dozen or so groups of Fel Orcs
lie between the entrance and your first boss, Warkeeper Golgalmar. Pull
the Chaos Orcs just as if they were the Orcs in Blackrock Spire. Provided you
watch for the patrols, and stay back when pulling Warlocks due to fear, they are
simply encounters.
Warkeeper Golgalmar patrols along
the corridor, make sure to stay out of his way till you've pulled enough orcs so
that you can pull him with minimal adds. Galgamar himself is accompanied by two
Hellfire Watchers, and posseses ttwo special abilities:
Surge:
Randomly changes at a party member, knocking them down and
resetting threat.
Healing Call:AAt 50% health, Golgamar will call his watchers to heal him.
Get the tank to tank Golgalmar,
and save his taunt for each surge attack. Meanwhile, have all four other party
members quickly eliminate the two watchers. These casters do little damage, and
a shaman or rogue off tank is fine. Once the healers are down, Golgalmar goes
down easily.
A few more
pulls and you've reached the spiral staircase, above of which situates a group
of four warlocks. Since all four can fear, this fight is slightly tricky. Have
the warrior pull all four mobs down, and tank two handed. AOE will bring the
casters down quickly.
Once on top, clear out the upper
courtyard. There are now two path to take. Vazruden straight ahead, and Omar to
the right.

Omar the Unscarred
Omar is reasonable trivial with
two abilities:
Treacherous Aura:
Omar will curse party members
this this aura, causing them to do around 400 damage per tick to all characters
in 15 yards. .tic
Summon Fel Hound:ASummons
a Felhound to spell lock casters.
The aura is a nuisance, but if
you have a Druid or a Mage, easily dispelled. Otherwise a Shadow Ward will
significantly reduce its damage, and provided players spread out, will not have
too much effect. As long as the DPS keeps an eye out of the felhounds, and kill
them the instant the appear, the fight is simple.

Vazruden the Herald
The final boss is a tricky one. To engage him, pull the two Felorc Guards that
stands in the way to the platform. Once these guards are destroyed, Vazruden
will dismount from his Nether Drake, Nazzan, to engage you on foot. When he gets
below 20% life, Nazzan will also join the fight. The difficulty is this
encounter isn't due to Vazruden, but more due to his mount. Vazruden has no
special abilities, and can tanked and spanked. However, make sure to conserve
mana so that you are fully prepared for Nazzan
When Vazruden is on 20% life, the
main tank should disengage and charge directly for Nazzan. It is essential that
he picks up the aggro so that Nazzan does not breath fire on the entire party.
Meanwhile, the remaining party members wil need to kill Vazruden quickly.
Nazzan has the following
abilities:
Fire Breath:
Breathes a Cone of Fire in
front of him, dealing around 1500 damage.
Fire Spit:
Spits fire at the target, causing the ground to burn anyone standing it for
around 600 damage per second.
The key to this fight is for the
tank to keep Nazzan from facing the rest of the party. Also, it is essential for
the tank to keep moving backwards, to avoid standing on Nazzan's fire spit. The
easiest way to this is to engage on the circular platform, and move around the
platform in a clock-wise fashion.
Once down, Nazrudan drops a note
that starts a quest for the Hellfire Furnace.
