The New Characters-
Blizzard is including two new and very unique characters in the game. Both of the new characters will be compatible with the first Diablo II quest.

The Assassin The Assassin -
Many of you might have noticed or caught a glimpse of the Assassin when you ran into Natalya, an NPC in Act III of Diablo II. As her name indicates, she will have a vast array of special weapons, attacks, and skills. Below we have a full list tech tree for both the Assassin and the Druid.

One unique feature Blizzard will include in the Assassin is something similar to the Paladins smite skill, except she will actually be able to kick her opponent. Blizzard has even gone as far to say that they were going to include kick with all the characters in the original Diablo II but said that it didn't fit in nor was proper. Here it fits in perfectly. She is also said to possess another completely new aspect to the game, a spell which is described as a "Fly Trap" that

lures the Minions of Hell into it and kills it.

Heres what Blizzard has to say on the Assassin:

The Order of Mage Slayers was formed after the Vizjerei survived the tragedy brought on by Bartuc and Horazon. Their purpose was to watch for rogue magi that may become corrupted by the forces of Evil. To be effective at this task they were trained in abilities that were not conducive to Demonic corruption. Living as rumor and myth to the general population, even other magi knew very little about this mysterious order. Their reputation was shrouded in mystery and the simple fear of their retribution almost ensured steadfast vigilance against corruption amongst those who knew they were real.

Assassins do not employ the magical arts directly; rather, they use enchanted items that mimic elemental powers and can be used autonomously. To further avoid potential corruption, they focus on the natural abilities of the mortal body - powers of the mind and unarmed combat.

The Druid The Druid -
Are you a Necromancer player, if so the Druid should appeal to you. Personally I think he looks like a old beaver hunter you see in the outback, but that could just be me. While the two characters have a different attitude both have the ability to raise creatures. The difference between the creatures appears to be that the Necromancer raises undead and golems, and the Druid will raise animals. Some of these animals include various types of wolves, ravens, and several other types of characters.

As you can see the Druid seems to be a very earth orientated character and following with that theme, the Druid will be able to summon a creature underground, travel underground and pop up with this creature. The creature is

called the Plague Poppy (Blizzard comes up with another scary name) and will pop up with the Druid and effect the enemy with poison and various other attack styles. The Druid will also feature a few Paladin style skills/spells such as the Spirit of the Barbs which is a protective aura which raises your defensive rating significantly to you and your party.

Think that's all of the Druids cool special abilities, think again. The Druid will also feature an elemental tab that will enable him to create cool miniature volcanoes. He will also sport various other special abilities such as shape shift, cyclone armor and tons more special abilities.

Heres what Blizzard had to say on the Druid:

The Druids who inhabit the northern forests of Scosglen developed their magic independently from the eastern mage clans. They served as the warrior-kings of their tribes, usually living apart from their people in massive stone towers that were covered with vines and ivy. As masters of the natural world, they were able to control living creatures and the very forces of nature.

Perhaps the most notable power of these Druids is their ability to change their form into that of an animal. Because of this ability, the tribes under their rule knew that they could be watched at any time. The sight of what was thought to be a common beast transforming into a vengeful Druid kept many a potential uprising in check.

The Druid controls both Elemental and Prime magic. His Elemental powers give him control over fire, earth and the winds. His Primal bond with nature allows him to command many beasts and plants, summoning hawks, wolves, vines, and even natural spirits to do his bidding. He can also change his own shape into creatures such as a huge cave bear, or a dire wolf, and then use these forms to call upon further powers.
